Batam City Highlights

We woke up late on the 2nd day and met up with Susanto(tour guide as recommended by Takume).

We took his Toyota and headed for the Kelong for seafood!Along the way, we passed by Bareilang Bridge, one of the famous landmarks in Batam. The sea was very blue-green and there were many islands. Susanto mentioned the total number of islands to us but I forgot.I was quite overwhelmed as I recalled.

And so we arrived at the Kelong, greeted by the variety of seafood. We can choose the kind of fish, crab, prawns that we want and they will proceed to prepare the dish. The meal was satisfying with a refreshing coconut and excellent seaview. We had flowercrab and kangkong again. Most of the food we ate in Batam are spicy but is quite shiok! The price was reasonable and is definitely worth a try!

After kelong, we moved off to see if there are any dragonfruits to buy. There are many dragonfruit plantations along the way but too bad..the fruits were sold off so quickly that by noon time..we cant purchase any.I rememebered having dragon fruit in HCM and that was totally different from what I ate in Singapore!..this time round, we didnt buy any but we came across somewhere near the Barelang Bridge and Susanto bought a few back~

And so after that..we went to Megamall, a shopping mall near to Batam Centre Ferry. This mall is quite big to shop and offers cheap sports items. I bought a pair of trekking shoes there which I think is quite value for money~

moved off to Nagoya Hills and before that..a stop @ the Polo Shop..i have heard indonesia sell cheap polo shirts..and are authentic..so we decide go take a look as recommended by Susanto..okie..they got quite huge variety but the price is somewhat similar to what is sold in the departmental stores in Batam City..My friend say those sold at Bandung of Indonesia is much much cheaper..haha..maybe will pay a visit there next time when visit Indonesia..hear say sports items and apparels also very cheap there cuz is the production site hmmmmm...

settled our dinner after much shopping at A&W..very full act so didnt eat much..dear went to buy some local produce for his parents..it was raining still..weather not very good act..

act there r many water sports that u can try..provided weather is good like parasailing, jetski, cableski..hmm but we didnt cuz raining..however we manage to see highlights of Batam from this trip which is never expected..i onli tot is jus a sea and the resort..and seafood..that's all haha..well..

will like to visit other parts of Indonesia in the near future!
a great getaway to Batam this time round =)

Took half-day off and made our way to HarbourFront for our cruise to Batam..

It's a 45min ride on Penguin Cruise and shortly after we arrive at Batam! It appeared to me like Lantau Island when I travelled there from HK Island..everything went smoothly until we were kinda stranded at Sekupang Ferry Terminal while waiting for our driver to come..a little late though but is fine..Sekupang is kinda ulu I feel..the layout and seems a bit dangerous..possibly becuz of what I heard before..

Our driver arrived in a van..picking us up as we made our way to Harris Batam Resort! It look somewhat less developed than HCM but more developed than Cambodia..along the way we saw kids..familes..not much motorbikes but many cars..and many election posters..only to know that election is round the corner haha!

And so there we were, arriving at Harris~checkin was smooth and we were greeted with a welcome drink upon arrival..it looks like any other chalets in Singapore as most people at Harris were Singaporeans..and we were glad to have a huge room..(kinda too huge) for 2 people's stay haha..

and so we explored Harris..to my dismay there r not many facilities available.we went for some bowling first, the entire alley was empty..we didnt brought socks thinking that can buy from the counter..but end up their socks out of stock -_- i wonder how long is the alley opened liaoz..a game for SGD2.50

Snooker is next!..no aircon..jus 2 of us haha..an hour for SGD3..there are squash court, table tennis table and a billard table for rental.i hear from fren saying u can ask for mahjong table too from the resort management..

the rest of the day was spent swimming at the big pool and slacking away till the night at ard 8pm..arranged to meet a fren whom I get to know from my Jap class..apparently he stays in Batam..so he warmly offered to bring us around that night..and i must say is an eye-opening experience!

he came in a damn posh BMW along with his friend..and drove us to Harbour Bay.Another ferry terminal that you can alight at Batam. It's kinda like Vivocity where many pubs, cafes are lined along the seaview. We had some spicy food like Kangkong, satay and fish(which i dun reallie enjoy cuz of the fishy smell).

den he drove us to some of the 4 star hotels like Planet Holiday, The Majesty etc and brought us to a Sky Tower to enjoy the nightview of Batam City.We patronised a pub below the Sky Tower area which consists of a live band.and this wasnt enough which we thought our next stop will be back to resort haha..my fren brought us to Dynasty..we didnt know what to expect seriously haha..and we were soon settled down in a nightclub..Is my 1st time being in a night club..saw many things that I only see in television..also got singer sing songs..followed by a gay who came singing along thru the night and entertained the customers with "interesting" jokes..hahaha

Batam Night

my friend drank much alcohol taht night and he have to drive us back to Harris.I was kinda worried honestly haha..cuz the roads were pitch dark..solely depending on the car headlights..he drove at an astonishing speed that i almost felt like flying liao..whee..but it was kinda thrill..machiam Initial D. Luckily, we reached resort safely at 3am haha..what a wild night in Batam which I nv expect~hehe
